3. Providing sound for choir rehearsals
4. Duplication and sales of audio tapes

Youth serve on ministry teams under a coordinator utilizing his or her SHAPE to assist in the development of the children.

Children’s Ministry (A.W.A.N.A.)

• Reaching.  The Great Commission, which Jesus gave to all believers, begins with evangelism  (Matt. 28:19-20).  Awana is an excellent tool for reaching nonbelievers with the gospel of Christ.  Awana will attract children where they can accept Christ as their Savior and learn to live for Him.

• Training.  The Great Commission includes teaching or training.  Through Bible memorization and other Bible based achievements, clubbers learn the Word of God, which (if they are saved) helps develop their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Awana is an international, nondenominational, Bible-centered youth organization providing weekday clubs and programs for three-year-olds through high schoolers.  The acrostic AWANA comes form the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Tim. 2:15).

An Awana Club meeting consists of three parts: games, achievements, and Bible time.  While SMBC supplies all the equipment, each clubber should bring $.50 weekly to provide special supplies.  Each child will complete an entrance booklet, which is the first step in Awana achievement.  Upon completion, your child is eligible to earn more awards as a member of Awana.  It is our desire to work with you in providing balanced physical, social, mental and spiritual activities for your child.

Congregational Care

Congregational care is our SMBC system designed to assist our Senior Pastor, Dr. Raymond M. Gordon in Caring, Contacting and Communicating with our SMBC members. This care system is supported by Shepherd Pastors and Guardian Angels.

SMBC member’s are automatically assigned into the congregational care system by their  household last name and specialty cell group specific to children/youth, millennial’s and senior members. Each cell group is identified as a different book of the bible.

Counseling Ministry

The Counseling Ministry of  Saint Matthew’s Baptist Church is a Christ Centered Ministry founded on Galatians 2:20, II Corinthians 1:3-7, and Ephesians 4:11-16.

We are called to be ministers to one another in love, helping one another attain to the fullness of Christ.

Our staff is headed  by PhD & Masters Level Christian Counselors.  We are primarily a Lay Counseling Ministry. Our Lay Counselors have received their certificate in Pastoral  Counseling from Philadelphia Biblical University after a year of course work and two Years of Clinical Laboratories.

Pre-Marital Counseling

Educational teams serve our youth by providingTutoring in Math, Science,   History, Chemistry, Algebra, Calculus, English, and Writing

Golden Agers

Monthly fellowship to provide a sense of belonging for the seniors within SMBC and encourage seniors to take an active spiritual role in the church.  During fellowship there is time to share experiences and testimonies as well as time to reflect and meditate on God’s Word.

Serves all food for ministry related events utilizing the Kitchen and Snack Bar in the Family Life Center, and provides classes on food preparation and nutrition.

Marriage Ministry

To minister to married couples with emphasis on building an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ to foster strong healthy marriages that will bring glory to God. Emphasis is placed on understanding the marriage covenant and the importance of applying biblical principles to encourage marriages to stay together.

Medical Ministry

Provide first-aid treatment and care to attendees who become ill or injured while on our premises

1. Provide information on health related issues that address the physical, social, and psychological needs of our members.
2. Conduct first-aid/CPR training for ministries and members within the congregation
3. Conduct events that provide education and resources on health issues.

Men’s Ministry

Mighty Men

Our mission is to establish a forum for Men to become transparent that will enable them to deal with their issues and concerns from a biblical point of view. The Mighty Men Ministry meets every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the CDC Building for Men’s Bible Study. For more information please contact 856.629.4614 ext. 2290.

Men’s Breakfast

Ministry provides a relaxed environment for men to be transparent with one another as they experience God’s love through His word. Our mission is to provide an environment to build relationships between fathers and sons as well as fellowship between brothers. The Men’s Breakfast is scheduled for the 2nd Saturday of each month from September through May, from 7am-9am. Outreach

The Outreach Ministry utilizes various methods to reach the unsaved in our communities:

1. Street Evangelism- door to door witnessing in small groups and tract distribution at public places
2. Special Centers- bible studies, group discussions, and worship services at shelters and special needs centers
3. Prisons- worship services, bible studies, and group discussions for those incarcerated
4. Correspondence- follow-up letters and communication with those who have been contacted by our various ministries
5. Evangelism classes for our congregation

Greeting each guest with a smile and serving as unto the Lord. Ushers serve at various services with the following responsibilities:

1. Greet attendees and distribute bulletins
2. Direct and assist with seating of worshippers
3. Direct and receive offering
4. Assist with any problem worshippers may have

Van Ministry

Assist ministries in providing transportation for special events and provide vehicles for Sunday School and Sunday Worship Services.

Wallbuilders

Building bridges from our past to our futures:

1. The Wall Builder’s Ministry consists of weekly support groups for both those who are addicted behaviorally or to substances.
2. These groups are Christ centered and family oriented, promoting openness and honesty in relationship.
3. The Wall Builder’s groups are also educational, promoting spiritual maturity through the word of God.

Women’s Ministry

Weekly bible studies, fellowship activities, special interest groups, and special events are utilized to edify and encourage women in their walk.

The Women’s Ministries are designed to edify and encourage women in their walk. It is holistic in approach and organized to meet needs through bi-weekly bible studies, fellowship activities, special interest groups and special events.  Various opportunities are available to serve within each.

Women’s Bible Study meets every Wednesday at 6:30pm to 7:45pm in the SMBC Sanctuary.
